Hi Fonics hf12d

I hust bought two of these replacing my previous jl w series sub the amp is a memphis audio quarter ohm stable 1300 watt amp. I have to say these hit much harder and clearer than my previous jl audio subs. Make me think JL is much overrated. I only paid 45 a piece for these subs. Anyone else have expeirence with hifonics

So which JLs did you have?

132 with 1300 watts? I would think you could do better than that with the right enclosure.

W6V2's possibly could have hit harder but i havent had time to jack with it to much. Just installed them.

Look at the two speakers. The JLs have a much heavier duty spider, the magnets are considerably stronger, bigger voice coils, the baskets are a lot stronger and the cones are considerably stronger.

All the heavier duty parts have a trade off, loss of efficiency. They'll handle more power for a longer time but won't play as loud as more efficient, lower quality drivers with less power.

I used to love HiFonics old stuff back in the early 90's. I actually replaced my RF Punch amps with a couple of HiFonics amps back in the day. Haha... EW probably remember my old setup as I installed it on my 'Vert a few years back until one of the amps shorted out and he convinced me to buy a JL Audio Slash amp. Haven't looked back since and will not go with anything else.

I can't possible see HiFonic speakers being better than JL. You get what you pay for. Good luck.

I was running two amps, a Mono Block Hercules and something else for my mids and tweets (think it may have been a Vulcan?). There were fucking heavy duty amps and IMO realistically (under)rated. I had a buddy running one of there high current amps (are those still popular today?) even though he didn't do any competing or anything. Wanna say it was an Isis powering 2 Petra 15's and all his mids and tweets. He had to seriously beef up his alternator after that
