Question stupid question? re: 1080i and 1080p

what does 1080i and 1080p mean? what should i be looking for in a new unit?
Is plasma better or LCD?
what is the best bang for the buck on a 42 or 50" size? to use at home?

The 720P 42 or 50" Elite Pioneer Plasma is the best TV on the market...

if you want bang for buck, why not DLP? Do you want to hang it on the wall or something?

The Toshiba Regza LCDs have a great picture for cheaper too... I think the 46 is like 2 grand at Best Buy...
