Thumbs up I just heard the best sounding cd head unit, I've ever heard!

I just helped my friend install his Pioneer DEX-P1R and man, it is the best sounding head unit I have ever heard in person. He got it off ebay last week and it got here today. It is SO clear and has tons of features it's crazy. I give it a big thumbs up. Too bad they don't make it anymore though.

Are you sure it wasnt his speakers with the little bit or watt's that the unit puts out? I did not think that pioneer could build a clear sounding player. Was is the Premier Series?

Wink

Oh yeah it was the High SQ Premier stereo. It has no built in amp and it was the highest model they made before the DEX-P9 and DEQ-P9 combo they have now. Basically it has the auto eq, 13 band eq, built in dsp functions and 6 sound fields, you can change the X-over slopes from 6-18 db's per octave etc. It has everything the new P9 has except the P9 has the 31 band eq, and the P1 has all the features built in so you don't have to buy a seperate $500 dsp controller. It is very nice.

Like I said before, the only good pioneer units are the premier, maybe next time you post on a thread you might want to read the entire thread before posting and then looking like a mad dumba$$!

Kyle bought his shit from me

That unit is tight. You also forgot to mention that it has delay settings for staging in the center of the vehicle for db Drag competitions. No other unit offers that or has ever not even the P9R

BTW,
I paid $1200 when it first came out and it was well worth it. Also the unit has been out for OVER 8 years. That is how far ahead pioneer is of the game. They only recently replaced it with a different model, and that model doesn't even offer more! GO FIGURE.

Oh Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I was dragging at 173dB.

That is kind of hard to touch. What were you draging at!!!!! I was rated at 100 WATTS. You have to have a unit that doesn't have a built in amp. Otherwise they will count the power of the head unit.

BTW,
This unit was also one of the highest rated for sound quality, but I guess that means nothing to you.

Look at the other post in the Car Audio forum. I explain what happened! Either way it was measured and it counts!

Decibles are easier to achieve at a higher pitch. Some think that it is cheating, but truth be told, it counts. The tone is more like treble, then bass. Read some CA&E, a couple of the issues talk about the higher pitched competitors.

BTW,
It really depends on how your system is set up, and what pitch gets loudest in your vehicle. Depending on acoustics you may achieve more with a higher pitch.
