I need the 411 on Indash Double DIN Navs

I'm thinking i want to go with a kenwood 8019 + they're nav add on. I like the Garmin based nav and the way user friendliness. Can anyone else tell me whats good and whats not? I'm having a difficult time picking one of these out. I just want to make sure that the DVD video while driving part can be bypassed

I was looking at the DNX7100 from Kenwood, but it only has 2v preouts. I have a JL 500/5 amp so i'm not sure how that would work. The 8019 has 5v preouts and seems to have more features, just no built in nav. the Nav add on can be had on eBay for $300 new.

My buddy has the D3 in his f150, its pretty nice, but i like the 7" screens. What I REALLY like about his is there are no moving parts on it, thats just one more thing to break.

I think the pioneer Z2 may be the best one out, but its also the most expensive.

Post it in the right forum and you'll get better answers. If I were a mod I'd move it for you.

I have an Alpine W205 with all the goodies. I've had some issues with it all working together properly, but when it's working right it's badass. I just haven't had time to send it back to Alpine so they can take care of it. It's a 6.5" screen.

That's another i've been considering. But when you add the price + a blackbird... you can buy some of the others cheaper.

I've really wanted to build a carputer... In dash touch screen, nav, internet, unlimited storage potential for music movies etc.,

I saw a pretty cool one that a guy made that combined his nav and google earth so you ended up tracking your location with a 3d satellite view

Well, of course there are cheaper options. If that's priority, then just buy a Jensen or Dual or something crappy.

I have a Kenwood ddx7019 in my mustang and I love it. I mostly only drive around in the area I know so I didn't get nav, but I like having the option to add it on later. I had EW put it in for me. It plays video while the car is moving.

bypassing the safety is reallly easy and most the time is as easy as twisting the parking lead to one of the battery wires from the stereo harness....

my best advice would be to try out the nav first hand if possible.

you mean avic d3 maybe?. i currently have a pioneer d3 and the EQs are pretty good. as far as the navigation, i was lazy with the instal and didnt wire up the reverse and spedo wires so im not sure if that affects the performance that much but i am very disapointed in the nav. it seems to be quick and the xm trafic is pretty sweet but it doesnt give me turn by turn dirrections like my garmin did and can be pretty confussing at times.

the ipod interface is OKAY. you cannot control the video from the HU but it does use the cable for clean sound and video. the audio playlists are very slow in loading sometimes and has no search feature. the HU has caused my ipod to freeze up 3 times so far and i've had it for about 3 months.

BTW if anyone has any tips for me to fix any of these problems then i would appreciate any tips

2v preouts arent that big of a deal IMO. inspecially with the jl slash series amps since they have a low input/high output switch as well as most middle to higher end amps have the 2v thing shouldnt be that big of a deal. only real big plus that i can see is less engine noise etc...

three outs give you a sub control too, so you can bump rock without going deaf listening to over bassed hip-hop...

I've got the IVA-W200 in my junk, just got it in last week, and it works great!

The -205 has the ability to throw a black bird into it, but I am getting the full blown DVD Nav anyways, and bought my -200 over a year ago.

So you can hook alpine's badass nav to the W200?

Also, how much for a HD Radio unit? And does it get better reception than the regular radio through the same antenna?

I have been thinking about getting one too... just not sure on which brand to go with.

Never wrap it up, never pull out. Just grind up the morning after pill in her scrambled eggs at sunrise, she'll appreciate that you made her breakfast.

jluv, does the IVA-W205 have the kick ass blue LEDs on the front? I just got my 200 installed last weekend, (I KNOW FOREVER, I got it the week it came out ) but I heard the 205 doesn't have the same front lights on it... my g/f wants the lights, so any idea where I can get a like new 200 (besides the one in my dash)?

The 205 has blue lights just like the 200. They took away the mute button though , and the Alpine label is centered instead of to the right. It looks very, very similar.

Good luck on a like new W200. I sold mine cheap the day I posted it up for sale. They are out there, but you might as well just get a 205.

Eclipse 5510. True 7" screen, built in Navi. and has 2 slots for dvd/cd

I would rather live my life as if there is a God, and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't, and die to find out there is.
