best way to stream movies pc to tv

i have a pc full of movies and i want a fairly inexpensive way to stream them downstairs... what would be my best option? either that or i could get one of those enclosures that do video output, right?

umm... what kind of tv?

The computer is upstairs and you want to stream the movies downstairs? Sounds like the easiest way to me would be a media pc just to hook up to the tv, and setup a wireless network. A very simple pc should be able to handle it. Its its a tube tv, then all you need is a s-video out video card for the computer.

A PS3, Xbox 360 or a hacked Xbox will all do the trick. The old Xbox is probably the best bet since it'll play pretty much anything media player will.
