RCA cables vs. S-video
I have a regular DirecTv receiver (non HD) hooked up to an HD TV. The DirecTv receiver is set to broadcast in 16.9 ratio for wide screen TV's, but the picture is always 4.3 aspect ratio. I see no settings on the TV to change, so I was thinking it was probably the rca cable (yellow video, red and white audio). Would an S-video cable make a difference?
Stupid receiver does not have component out jacks, so I can not hook up like that. Later I will upgrade the receiver to HD, but DirecTv wants $299 to "upgrade" to the HD DVR set, and this is just in a third room so I don't want to fork over the cash for it.
They've done studies you know.... 60% of the time, it works every time
