what would happen if you

run an amp off of 18V?

i am not talking about a bad ass amp either, i am talking about a little Jensen. i have one laying around and i am using it to make a little portible audio source for my MP3 player to go camping with.

From what I've seen first hand, it's "all good" until it starts drawing current. Then caps start flying off the board. If it's cheap, give it a shot. Just make sure you have a fuse within 18" or so of the power supply.

LOL, it's a jensen, even if it breaks, no harm done.


It might actually make half of its rated power if it doesn't blow up.

oh, it will only be powering two little detachilbe boom box speakers. this is just stuff i have laying around the garage, not big lose if it fries, i just wanted to see if it was completly stupid to do it.

lol, it works fine. i let it play for about 15 min, not noticible heat build or smoking

PS, hook up a 400watt power invertor to it, and man, that little fan really goes into OT.
