Think my preouts are gone.

I have an Eclipse 8454. The one with 8 volts preouts. I have a crappy Boss Amp, with a 10" MTX 7500 Series sub.

One day my radio could not adjust my bass on the equilizer. SO I stuck a Multimeter on the RCA cable and it read really low (around .1 volts). I also tested it behind the deck and it maxed out at .3 volts.

Am I testing it wrong or are my preouts gone???

Did you have the meter on A/C? Why do you have a boss amp on an eclipse deck? If you have a bad ground on the amp or EQ they are going to get ground somewhere and that somewhere is through the RCAs which burns out the preout section of the deck.

You're not going to get a ton of voltage out of the preouts, depending on what's playing, but it's definitely possible you toasted something.

Congrats, I've never seen an Eclipse Preamp cooked on an 8v unit.

Yes I did have it on AC. I bought the Boss Amp before I bought the Eclipse deck, and I normally replace my electronics when they break. I was about to buy a Polk Mono block amp though.

The amp is grounded to the Battery (in the trunk), and the Deck is grounded to the metal on the dash. I hope my deck is still in the warranty.

Well the volume was up pretty high, and I was listening to bass heavy rap

Thank god it is still within the manufactuers warranty.
