JL Audio 500/1 should work perfectly. Is the box ported or sealed? If its sealed I would go with something alittle bigger, but Im use to 159db or higher.

2000 White GT, 4:10, pro5.0 short shifter, Offroad H, mil's, Dynomax bullets, timing adjuster, Denscharger CAI for now, Vortech V1, 30lbs injectors, 12psi, yet to be installed and dynoed.

I've got a sealed box to put them in that will fit under all the mach system stuff. All I need is an amp now

Cool that you got a hood! Don't worry, I'm used to people trying to get under my hood-I'm used to it now

No you are not. 159DB is DB drag type #'s. No one gets "used to" 159 db, if you do, you are deaf. JL 500/1 would be overkill for those subs. 250/1 would push em just nice imo.

I don't have to do a JL amp-I just didn't know what kind of power I needed. I have since been informed that I do not need to solicit advice as I already have my resource Thanks guys

135 db is pretty loud, 150 db is painful for most listeners instantly and 159 db is what 4x that? I've been in a truck that did 162 on the TL meter so yeah it's possible but no way you'd get used to it

Listen son. Any fuckstick can go get MECP certs and 12 volt certs. Those don't mean jack shit. I've helped build SPL boxes and SQ vehicles (my last mustang was an SQ vehicle that I entered once or twice :-) ) without certs! and gone to many IASCA and USACi events. You do NOT know what you are talking about and 159 db.

Here go read up on DB.

I wonder if you knew for every 3db you go up you are basically doubling the intensity of the sound. So go "get used" to 159 db

Soooooo...approx 600W RMS @ 12.5V(500/1) is recommended for a pair of woofers that are rated at 125W RMS each?
Since each woofer is 4 ohm, you should select an amp that can run 2 ohm mono. A basic Alpine is approx $199 while the JL Audio 250/1 is approx $349. The JL Audio e1400D would also be more than enough power.
<--- certification expired.

Do you mean you are used to building 159+ systems or you ride around all day listening to yours at 159+? I've been out of the game for awhile but my old Blazer at 155.9 was enough for me. Although I only played it that loud 30 to 90 sec. at a time How long do you get in db drags these days?

I have an Audiovox 8 track and 50 watt amp that would look great in a late model dash...Stangchick can have them for FREE if she trades straight up for her factory CD player

James-that's a GREAT idea! How cool would that be?? Wow, what a way to reflect on the "good 'ol days"! To feel the rumble of the car, windows down, wind in your hair and cranking the 8 track. How amazing that would feel! Thank you so much for your suggestion and I will let you know how it goes!

LOL...you're silly! Get your old 'New Kids on the Block' CD, a boombox, and place it in the rear package tray - you're good to go!!!
