Double din radio in a 94-98, help!

I'm wanting to install a double din radio in my 98, but I want to put it in the top two slots and move the a/c controls to the very bottom pocket. I pretty much know that this is going to take some fabrication (unless someone makes a kit??), but has anyone done this and what is involved? Or have a picture of what this looks like? I was debating putting the radio bezel out of an 01+ in my 98, but the double din radio will have to sit recessed in the very bottom by the shifter and I don't really care for that. I'd rather have it up higher. Comments, suggestions, pictures...

Thanks!

It would be much easier to do the 01-04 swap. You will need to cut out the tabs on the side of the dash, get the factory bezel, and probably weld in a lower metal bar for the deck to mount to. You need to look at a 94-00 and a 01-04 side by side, taken apart to see what the differences are. Good luck.

I just don't like how low the radio will sit with the 01+ bezel. It will be practically right behind the shifter.

It might be hard for you to swallow that pill, but there are lots of 4 bangers that run 13s and better. SRT-4 Neons, Cobalt SS's, Saturn Sky Redline's and Evo's do it all the time.

Anyone know where I can find one of those 01+ bezels? I couldn't find anything on Ebay. I need a black one.
