Mach 460 Head Unit (6 disk)

Anyone know if there is a reset procedure for these head units? I got a eject error and now when I hit CD it says "no disk". It's still under warranty but I don't want to bother taking it in if a reset might do the trick.

Thanks.

The only trick I know of is to take it apart, remove stuck CD, reassemble. My co-worker did it about 6 times before throwing it away.

whenever a cd gets stuck in mine, I can usually use a credit card to get it unstuck, I just press the cd with the card and move it around until it eventually ejects it. You can usually see the CD in the player. The door is open, isn't it?

No.. It was really strange. I hit eject and it did nothing for a minute then gave me the error.. It then would continue to play that CD but wouldn't switch to another. Once the vehicle was shut off it would no longer go back to that CD. It shows the indicators that the 6 slots are full, just gives me the no disk message when I hit the button.

The slot is closed.

That is weird, mine has always hung up open, and it's done it tons of times. It's bad about doing it with CDs in the 6 spot.

That is the one that hung up too (6).. I guess I'll push the slot cover down tonight and see what is there.. I don't want to go as far as taking it apart though, I'll just have to drop the car off for a day.

Mine has the ejecting problem but the door will open so i can easily get it out. My problem is with my cd player scratching or just skipping on the last half of most of My cd's. i tried cleaning it with one of those cleaner discs but it still does it. Are there any aftermarket double din replacement head units that will fit the din without putting those ugly plates around the single din ones?

Mine does that too. I also use a CC to get it out.

That's why I have a sub.. With the volume little over half way up I hear nothing but music

I was able to open the door easily but see no CD with the ability to be pulled out. It must be deeper inside.

There are aftermarket ones, but talk to EW. He hooked me up with a nice MP3 player Sirius ready deck and the "Plate" isn't the classic style. It gives me a little tray on the top that looks good. They also did one of the best jobs on the install I have ever seen. I'll try and remember to take a pic as an example.

Why do they call it "Common Sense" when it is so rare?

I would just go with an aftermarket head unit but my last two aftermarket stereos (in my previous car) were stolen. I like having the stock head unit to keep the theives away.

so none of the double or 1-1/2 din radios will fit?
Just don't really have a use for the compartment, unless i just make my own flat plate out of fiberglass or something so i can mount the nitrous arm, bottle heater, and purge switches etc...

Thanks.
try unplugging the power going into it(harness on back of head unit) or disconnecting the battery and wait a few seconds. I used this method to get mine to reset(sort of). It goes through a power up cycle which is close to what you can do to reset it yourself. Mine didn't always keep the flap/door open so I came across that solution one night when i was getting pissed off that it held my friend's cd in there. I was about to tear it open but decided to try a power up cycle and it worked.

There are some that will fit.

I went with the aftermarket because it had what I wanted. I have had radios stolen before but only when I left the face plate on. So far I have been ok with this one, I just hope that continues.

Maybe you listen to really shitty music and the car knows it. Your CD isn't stuck...its being digested.

Yeah...your car definitely ate the CD. It's not stuck, but you aren't getting it back now.
