Angry Removing alarm from the '90 trouble

I believe the alarm that was installed in the 90 way back in 93 is draining the battery and want the thing out as I've lost the remote for it years ago so I decided to pull the POS thing as it was only tapped into ground and hot circuits in the wiring harness under the dash and also has a wire going to a factory 15amp fuse on the panel, seems plain jane as an alarm can get but when I went to connect the negative cable to the battery post the somebitch threw off one heck of a spark show like there was a booby trap placed in the harness by the installer

The battery still is disconnected but need some input on what to look for so I can get the car back on the road, anyone??

Thanks!

just start cutting everything out, re-taping all the connections you have cut. pull that 15amp fuse too if you want.

I just uploaded a photo of the POS alarm with wiring in the original post.

I'll tape off the tap locations and pull the fuse to see if the short clears up,I'll be back.

Would this make sense,I get 12.5 volts going from the negative battery cable to the negative battery post when ran between on a multimeter which is what I get with the Positive cable to Positive battery post?

Perhaps this thread should get moved to the Garage slot?
