Angry CD Player

Someone help me out asap please.

Trying to install a cd player and replace this factory stereo thats busted.

I have the wireing harness and everything works (display etc) but i get no sound.

I took the factory amp (the football) all the way out.

I got told i needed an apm elimator waited weeks to get it.. to find out the plugs dont match.. i called the guy was like "yeah i've done 1000's of stangs you don't need that"

He says that i should be able to just disconnect a wire behinde the glove box? to bypass the factory amp? i see 2 speakers plugs back there i unplug them both.. nothing.. i try just leaveing one and then the other in .. nothing..
If i leave them both in and try the cd player i can hear something running under the dash.. makes a little noise..

Does ANYONE understand this? can someone PLEASE help me out!

I don't want to take it to somewhere for $50 to get it done ethier because i spent to much time on it...

anyone???

thanks

Mkay grass. Have you looked at the plugs that were on the amp (both the in and the out?) Did you buy the elim kit or just an aftermarket install kit? There are two plug, one black one grey. They are shaped like an L kinda. These are the ones you need. One should have been plugged into the back of the radio and one at the amp or in a bundle of wires way back in dash. Try this and see what you find. I will keep checking back here and try and walk you through it. Good luck. Jeff

Well when i bought the cd player i orderd the wireing harness with it for a "fod 87 mustang" .. it plugs in perfect with the plugs that i removed from the factory stereo...

The amp bypass harness doesn't match up with anything...

I removed the amp from the car.. the plugs in/out that were running into it are just sitting there now..

thank you for trying to help me out.. hopefully someday i'll figure this one out!

If I remeber correctly, when I tried the same thing with a "conversion" harness, nothing worked. What I had to do was fabricate my own harness. Basicly one of the connections to the amp are the connections to the speakers. You'll want to interface that to the speaker connections on your head unit. Or at least, that's what I did. I had a spare stock amp lying around, so I opened it up to figure out what connections went where. From there, I cut the connector out of the amp to use the connector on the adapter that I made. Then I ohmed out all the speaker connectors to find out where they went into the stock harness that connects to the amp. Then I matched the amp connector that I cut off with the outputs on the back of the head unit. Viola! Everything seemed to work. You might try searching for a "Speaker Polarity" post that may have the colors and stuff for a '91, it may be similar if not the same thing for an '87.

This is the one and only thing i've ever tryed to do with a stereo.

I'm still very very lost on this.

But i really want to learn and get this done myself.

Thanks.
