installing an alarm myself?

hello,
have any of you installed an alarm yourselves? i have never done one before and i am curious what kind of a mess i would be getting myself into. i don't want to install it myself because i am a cheap ass or anything... well, actually that has something to do with it but for the most part i would like to learn how to do it.
i want to give it a shot but, i will trust y'alls judgement if you tell me, "it is hard as hell, don't even bother."

thanks,
will

Don't..

You will cut something important, fry something or end up locking yourself outta your car..

I have been on Car Audio forums for years and we NEVER recommed self installs..

Also self install voids most warranties.. if you care about that..

The amount of money you will save by installing it yourself is not worth the mess/damage you can cause. A professional installer will be able to hide or make the wiring look closer to factory as well.

You start by knowing what you're doing, then you actually do it, after which, you get better.

Please, save yourself the time and trouble, if you can't devote the effort to know how to do it properly, have an expert do it.

Do it, then call me, I can fix "self installs", for a nominal fee.
