Talking Penny in CD Player

Ok, here's the deal. My friend just informed me that his daughter stuck a penny in his Cd-player in his 2001 F-150. The radio is stock and nothing to be proud of, however; he did manage to take the penny out but now the whole system doesn't work!!

Nothing, nada, the volume doesn't work. None of his presets, tuner, seek, or anything works!! Of course I laughed when he told me this story. However, if anybody has any tips or tricks I can pass on to him to fix this issue that would really make his day.

The only thing I suggested he could do would be to disconnect the battery and see if that "resets" the system.

penny could have caused a short in inside. If he had to take it apart to get the penny, where did he find it?
