Major for me anyway. I haven't had any kind of upgraded stereo system (other than a head unit) in any of my cars in like 10 years. Think my biggest system was a pair of 15's powered by two Fosgate Punch 75's and a pair of 8's for midbass, pair of 5 1/4, and some titanium tweeters powered by a Punch 75. Got some pictures of it somewhere.

Anyway, still finalizing some parts

Haha... Dude, you'd probably laugh at the system I'm putting together. I went over to EW's and had the amp bench tested to make sure it works OK (picked it up for cheap on eBay) and talked to him about my install.

More to come soon.....

Wink

Come on Jose details! It can't be as bad as what's going in my car! I am going real budget minded. I have my Pioneer cd player that I put in the car in June of last year, I just got some Eclipse point source 5 1/4's for the doors, and I am going with MB Quart 5x7's for the rear. Dunno what subs yet. I have a RF 200a4 for the mids and highs (had the amp for over a year and haven't had it hooked up), and I picked up a Sony Xplod (older red model) XM2252HX to run whatever subs I get.

Well it's really not the megawatt booming systems that FFC has. It's just something that's enough that I can enjoy with the top down and can drown out the exhaust with it up until I can afford the Dynamat.
  • Sony MDX-U1 Mini Disc Player with CD/MD Changer Controls and titling (top of the line unit about 8 or so years ago)
  • Sony 744 EQ
  • 4 JL Audio 5x7's
  • 1 JL Audio Stealthbox w/10" JL Audio Subwoofer
  • HiFonic's Hercules 200wx1 Watts @ 4 Ohm Mono Subwoofer Amp, Internal 2 Way Crossover variable from 50-530 Hz (don't have anymore specs but it's supposed to almost double the power bringing it down to 2 Ohms)
  • HiFonic's Vulcan 50wx2 @ 4 Ohm, 90wx2 @ 2 Ohm, 100w mono bridged @ 8 Ohm, and 180w Mono Bridged @ 4 Ohm
  • HiFonic's Plato 10 Band Vario Frequency Equalizer

Hey that is all I am going for in my ride! I forgot I have a Memphis 1/2 din parametric eq going in the dash with the head unit. I bet yours will sound good though.

I was thinking about getting Audio Control THREE.1 In Dash EQ and Crossover

But wanted something a little pimp and flashy. Sounds kinda stupid but I went ahead and bought that Sony 744 EQ instead.

If the Sony doesn't work out I'll get the Audio Control THREE.1 and sell the Sony.

You could use the Sony for "Disco Lights" by running signal into it but not out of it and then hide the Audio Control.

Hehehe... someone finally said it. Now I'm going to have to hide the disco ball I got hanging from the mirror Now I feel a little stupid for wanting the spectrum analyzer inside my car

Re the Audio Control. That's actually something I was thinking about after reading more about the Sony.

Probably in the next couple of weeks. I need to clean up some of the wiring I have on the car from installing the Anderson PMS and the MSD Box. Hopefully soon, I'm so sick of this old Alpine deck I have on my car. No offense to Alpine, the deck is just old and the FM Tuner likes to drift and it doesn't care much for the CD-R's I try to play in it. So basically I have a lot of silence on the drive to work and home because of my stupid radio

Are you going to be installing the Dynamat? Yourself?

Well work something in with the Audio Control THREE.1 a little later. I do like the fact that the THREE.1 has master volume, subwoofer volume, changeable subwoofer crossover point, bunch of cool stuff. I'm still reading the PDF Instruction Document from Audio Controls website but I'm liking what I'm seeing.

Sorry E, I'm in it for the light show

I don't think there is much to it. I've got most of my interior as it is now. But I'll consult with E before I proceed.

A monkey could install Dynamat. The only real issue is that you must clean the surface (car panels) well and you must bond it to the panel with a roller so you'll have good adhesion. No sticky=no workie.
