MRP350 upgrade

I just purchased an Alpine MRP-M350 (200W x 1 mono subwoofer amplifier).

Just noticed that for an extra $100 I can upgrade to a Alpine MRD-M501
275W x 1 mono subwoofer amplifier.

Is it worth it..??? I went with the MRP-M350 on EW's advice. Sounds freakin awesome right now but wondering it the M501 would be worth upgrading to.

Thanks

Don't get me wrong... The M350 sounds awesome. Is it that much different. If I get a couple more responses like this... I'm going for it.

What woofers are you running? How many? What is the RMS power handling of each woofer?

I'm running two 12" Punch 2s in a sealed box.

60-ounce magnet
frequency response 20-200 Hz
power range 50-200 watts RMS
peak power handling 400 watts
sensitivity 86 dB
4-ohm impedance

you'd be better off spending the money on a ported box.

Seriously... I'm new to this stuff here.

Will a ported box be that much of an improvement..??

The M350 was $194 after tax and the M501 is $299 through Crutchfield now. The difference is about $100... which is the price for a ported box at the Post Exchange (Military Store on Ft Hood).

Ported Qlogic box or M501...???

Since you're not even doubling your power, the difference would be fairly negligible. If you're definitely gonna do one or the other, I'd do the box, assuming it's not some cheapo. I believe you'll get more volume out of it than an extra 75 watts.

when i said ported box, i meant CUSTOM ported box, built to the woofers specs.

qlogic is poop.

but yes, the box will likely net you more gain than a larger amp.

What's the recipe (dimensions etc) for a custom ported box building it myself.

FS(Hz)= 25, QTS= .488, Xmax 11mm...... Don't know this stuff yet.

Any pics anywhere to see of custom boxes that fit..

Also what would a shop charge me for something like this. Will this box be a quick remove or not... I think not but just asking.
