Lights question

was hoping you audio guys could help me out on this one...
I have a convertible. The interior lights are located in the rearview mirror. I bought an after market one at the dealership and had it installed (you know the one with the compass and thermometer) so guess what... No interior lights. What ever I do I want it to look stalk. I'd like something, like I had, that turns on when I open the door, that I can turn on manually, and doesnt plug into the cigaret lighter. Some of my friends were saying I need a relay, and that I would have to buy a fog lights kit. I prefer not to go with neons. The morons at circuit city and best buy that I talk to got lost when I said interior lights in the rearview mirror, and Ultiment doesn't even sell interior lights. Any suggestions.

You bought the wrong mirror. The company that makes those has mirrors with 50 different combinations of features.

look at the bottom left unit. They also have them with LED lights and 3 different colors.

If you want it to look clean and "stalk", then sell the one you bought and get another one. The other options you mentioned are ghetto IMO.
