Those three things I said are important are not. They have nothing to do with the performance of the amp. Most low end amp companies do not print enough specs to determine what the amp really puts out and anyone can type a spec on a piece of paper. It does not mean the amp will do it.

Let me paraphrase for what eventually the "all knowing" OneBadWagon will reply with when he wakes up from his alcohol induced coma and reads this post:

"Hifonics is junk shit"

You see he works at car toys and thus knows everything.

But really ... listen to EW despite his sometimes sarcastic replies, he really does know what he's talking about. I personally would go with a more mainstream amp, there really are some decent amps that are still relatively cheap. And most people on here will trash everything you want to buy unless its the most expensive high end audio brand ever made.

How much are you looking to spend and maybe someone can reccomend something better in your price range?

i dunno man it seems they were advertising their heat sinks more than the actual amp specs. Alpine makes a nice 1000D for around 500-600 $ I run a 500D Alpine and really it made a world of difference and i went from the JL 500 D to the alpine.

But yea do some research before you spend your hard earned cash on the hifonics and regret it later. Also just a bit of advice, you dont need TWO 15s just to have loud bass. For the money i'd go with a JL W6 or W7 single sub and the alpine 601D to power it. For the price of 2 Kicker L7s ... it would sound damn nice in the right box!

For competition purposes that would be considered a 450 watt amp. I haven't seen a Hifonics product in competition in about 6 years though so that probably doesn't matter

As for recommending an amp it really depends on how you listen to your music and what kind of charging system you have. The old Kicker XS series stuff kicks major ass but will also murder a stock alternator and battery. Just like any of the HCCA series Orion stuff or the US amps HC amps.

I've heard lots of good things about the new Rockford amps but they are freakin huge and cost way too much IMO. If you can find an old Mark Antony amp, something from Atomic or an old Cadence A7 they all make ass loads of power and are all basically useless for competition now (rerated thanks to cheaters). A lot of people are using the Audiobahn sub amps. I'm personally scared of them seeing as how they look like something you'd pick up at the flea market but I've seen some really impressive cars using them.
