Opinions on inexpensive dampning material

I usually install moderate quality stereo components in my cars. Through carefull matching of components and meticulious installation, the results were usually quite good. Of course I solder & shrink wrap all connections, centrally ground all components, keep cable lengths to a minumum and ensure that power cables are on opposite sides of the cars as signal cables.

I usually make foam gaskets to go between the speakers & sheetmetal components on the car. But those can hold water, and eventually degrade. I was thinking of using rubberized undercoating inside the doors and around the speaker flange.

Opinions?

Scott

Go check out Dynamat Xtreme, they make a small "kit" that is made for just the application you're look for. IMO that's the best route.
