Why get name brand equiptment???

Most people(like me) hide the amps, and equiptment anyway. And, I really can't tell a differance in the sound quality. So, why do most people get name brand stuff? It cost a hell of alot more.

Quality man... Quality. My first amp was a Pyramid PB-600. Big difference in sound quality from some of the amplifiers I've run since than (Rockford Fosgate, Alpine, Series VII HiFonic's, and now SoundStream). Same goes for CD Receivers. You can't honestly tell me you'd want to run a Kraco amp in your car

No, for the stuff that you can see. I get quality equiptment. I have an Alpine 7863 deck. But, I usually hide my amps and subs. So, why get name brand stuff? I can't tell a differance in the sound quality.

What brands of stuff have you used? Like I've said, I've used a Pyramid amp before. I had a loud pop on sound when the amp came on and destorition whenever I cranked it up to loud. Plus, the amp was no where rated to handle the power it was advertised to do. Just a few things anyway.

Now why would you get quality equipment for the stuff you can see? Don't tell me just for the looks

Why buy 93+ octane gas?
Why buy forged pistons?
Why buy steel cranks?

Your car audio systems is much like the drivetrain in your car, even if you don't think you can tell the difference right away, you will pay in the long run.

Another thing to think about is if you go buy a non-name brand amp and it says that it is 400x2 and you go get it tested I will bet good money that it wont come any thing close to that. I bought a PPI amp and it say it was 1800x1 and I had it tested to verify and it actually pused 2731x1 at 2 ohm. Another thing the no name brand takes more power to get to efficeny, and the higher quality brands have better crossover and more ajustability.

PPI is one of the best amps you can buy....I wasnt saying that PPI was bad just using a good brand as a example. Because crappy brands over rate the amps and good quality companys under rate.

Cool, thanks again for the clarifying that for me.

Now how does one go about getting an amp tested for true specifications?
