Equalizers

Hey all,
Are equalizers obsolete now? I have an Alpine CDA-9827 and it has a bunch of adjustments. I just always thought the lights and stuff of a eq were cool. However, I noticed they are hard to find now. Basically, is it because of all the adjustability of head units that eqs went away? Or are they mainly for high end applications now?

Thanks

headunit EQ < external EQ.

they are a PITA, but they are nice to have if you're "serious about sound"

eclipse, memphis, etc still make 30 band EQs, as well as audio control among others.

What web site would you recommend to check them out? There are none on the standard cartoys.com, circuitcity.com and bestbuy.com. Serious about sound...na, I only have a 10" sub and 4 other speakers. I am serious about controling that sound. Plus I dig lights and buttons in my cars and house. I just don't like putting useless lights in them.

Thanks man.

The 9827 only has a 2 band eq but it does allow you to adjust the frequency and Q on the bass and the frequency on the treble. The Audio Control stuff is GREAT and also includes built in line drivers.
