Car alarms worth a sh*t?

Whats a decent alarm system that I can install in a few hours? I just want keyless entry and a shock sensor.

audiovox aps 25 is cheap as hell and has a two stage shock sensor, if you already have the power locks, it also does keyless entry, if you don't, you will need two standard bosch automotive relays, and two door lock actuators.

for 30 bucks prestige looks like its go time. I've never installed an alarm, where do you tap in for the keyless entry, etc? I assume at the fuse harness, am I wrong?

depends on the vehicle, but generally under the drivers side dash,

you'll need a domelight-door pin trigger, power lock wires, 12v, start, ignition, etc, most will be at the fuse box, or under the column,

door lock wires are in the kick panel on the driver side. I can get a two way pager system for 185 from autopage if your interested. and the audiovox piece is a good if thats all your needing.

it's called an EXTRA STEP, one more thing that makes your car more of a PITA to fuck with than the next guy.

I second that, Plus if you get a good brand that you dont have to worry about the brain going out then you can hide it pretty good up in the dash. Several people on the board can take a dash out with ease. IT will slow a theif down unless he has a flat bed. My solution to that one is garage and hollow points.

I received my prestige aps25kb today, looks like a quality system to me, I ordered 2 kits, just in case 10 years from now when they dont make this kit anymore, and the brain goes out, I'll still have a backup.

Installation looks like it will take a little while, no sweat though.

The remote and siren are typically the first to wear out.
