Going Sirius - Looking at headunits

I've spent quite a while looking at headunits and talking to several audiophiles, and the best bang for the buck / audio quality / adjustability seems to be the KENWOOD KDC-X579 ... Anyone have sirius or anything to add?

Alpine is XM. But i love the cd players. Very reliable. My kenwood fell apart after about a year.

Alpine will be compatible with Sirius in about 2 weeks.
I like the Kenwood KDC-MP6025 for a base model.

To each and their own I suppose, my alpine's display went out and the sound quality is dog shit, makes all my speakers pop uncontrollably, and the display comes on about once a month, which is when I frantically adjust the settings.

What model? To make a blanket statement about Alpine is like a blanket statement about Ford. They make many different models and change them every year.

I agree. I have one of the first alpine cd players that came out and it still works. Its not the best thing in the world but it still runs good.

I'm not making a blanket statement at all, my statement is unbiased. From the many reviews I have read, and I've talked to several sound shops with experience installing both, they seem to be crystal on the fact that sirius = kenwood. And to further that, I've had a bad experience with alpine. I have a bad taste in my mouth for alpine because of that. It was a rather recent model, about 2 years old, front loader, I dont have the model off the top of my head, sitll in my car. Today, it started cutting out, and I have to flip to another track.

The unfortunate thing is at the moment the only 2 brands that are compatible for Sirius is Kenwood and Jensen. Jensen sucks so Kenwood is the only option for now. I didn't know that Alpine was going to use Sirius soon. At that point, I would go with the Alipne, not a big fan of Alpine, but they are definitely better than Kenwood and Jensen. I'm a Pioneer fan, but they are XM.

Yeah my kenwood rattled apart so i ended up going with an Alpine. Its really not hard to do that when you have bass that beats the crap out of it.
