Kenwood KDC-MP8017

I have a KEnwood head unit that wont turn on. I checked all of the fuses in the car and the on on the head unit. None are blown. I checked the wiring to the unit and it is receiving power.

Anyone know the cost to repair one and a decent repair shop for Kenwood in the area. My normal contacts wont touch it and it seems like a newer unit might be cheaper.
Any suggestions.

Any suggestions on a new head unit if needed:

Requirements:
Black removable Faceplate
MP3 player that reads CDR/RW
No outputs needed and an aux input would be nice.
Reasonably priced.

chances are that the ribbon cable on that particular unit has gone bad, if so, you would be looking at at LEAST 100$ to repair.

Yooo

I fix those things just about every day. OneBadWagon is probably right. Dose the face sit in the open position? (Meaning: Load a CD position?) If it is, that means that IC1(The main UComp on the main board.) has lost communication with IC1 on the front board.

fuck kenwood, i have one in sitting in my garage, it never worked well from day one and then the lcd started to screw up and quit working. spent $300 on it, and it didn't sound as good as a JVC $149 special i used to have...I love my alpine now, and would never buy anything else...

I can't rember which model alpine I have, but it was last years model...get an Mp3 alpine with the F-Search function, and 60x4, you will love it...

I have the alpine in my car and love it last years as well bought from EW for a good price. But the wife wants a black face to it and the new alpines all have that Silver on it. She wants tomethign that looks inconspicuous if she leave it in the car flipped.

So Paul.... how much to repair the head unit? Or how much does your employer charge to take a look and estimate cost.

Yooo

Well, to answer everyones question the answer is $95.00. That is what the company I work for chargers. It is still almost $100.00 cheaper than my competitor. I tell ya guys what, I'll do it for $40.00 because you guys are from this site.

FYI: All estimates are free.
