Naive Statements
Oh go away. We're rather busy at the moment building to stop an illegal war of aggression which, by the way, violates both the UN CHarter and the Nuremberg Principles, will kill tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis and will pave the way for increased terrorism and conflict around the globe. I don't have time to deal with small-minded tits like yourself. If you don't want another 9-11, I recommend you stop provoking people and examine the actual reasons why most of the population of the world loathes the USA.
Matt "On 2003-03-18 23:27, Anonymous wrote: to repeat a member above. please give one strong, anti-war argument, based in fact and not capitalist conspiracy theory. " Argument number one: Thousands opf people will die for a war that shoud never have been fought. Soldiers who had no choice but to be there, workers and don't forget the victims of the 7% of precision missiles that miss there original targets. Argument number two: America claims that it is defending itself when in fact Saddam, this time at least, has not openly threatened them. Or not before they began thsi whole affair at least! Don't get me wrong, I can see why he should be stoped, but according to all UN laws this IS NOT A JUST WAR! Argument number three: We are giving up on peace. Once the UN has been set aside once it will only happen again, and how long will it be before somebody turn son us and, when we ask the UN for help, that country ignores them the way we did yesterday? Argument number four: This war can only spark off more terrorist activities - from Alqueda to wayward supporters and yes, protestors, of this war. Ta Daaaaaaaaaa! -emma- http://www.petitiononline.com/alight1/petition.html Response : Okay - the mean anonymous (or shoudl I say genghas kahn after looking at that petition?) do you honestly believ that this war is right? You say there are no grounds for peace, but what are the grounds for war? Honelst - give me three good reason that cannot be solved in any other way and I will admit that maybe you are right. If you put them nicely that is! Seriously though, it's a good petition! -emma- |

Uh.. lessee... after 12+ years of asking Saddam nicely to please quit creating weapons that only serve to kill massive numbers of people and intimidate his arab neighbors and his perceived enemies throughout the world (US, Israel, Kuwait, etc..), we have gotten NOWHERE. So we put UN sanctions up against Iraq, and the only people it affected were the innocent Iraqi population. We finally got a UN resolution approved that put some pressure on Saddam to disarm, but all the limp-dick countries that have financial ties to Iraq threatened to veto any resolution that would actually make Saddam disarm through the use of force.
If you want to blame anyone for the fact that we are waging war, you go ahead and blame France and Russia, who threatened to veto any forceful disarmament resolution, and blame the other arab countries that didn't do more to pressure Saddam to disarm before the shitstorm started. I place the blame squarely on their shoulders... there would be no need for war if there was more international pressure on Iraq. How the fuck can these people be so blind? Maybe we have *now* overstepped our boundaries, but damn... if we didn't then Saddam would continue to be an international threat for years to come and God only knows how many people would die because of it. America is the only superpower in the world, and as such, one of our responsiblities is to defend our interests throughout the world. Yeah, we may be trying to achieve a nice US-friendly foothold in the Middle East... what's so bad about that? IMO we could really use that to foster better relations in the region. My $1.95 |

And finally, if bombing the 'homes of terrorists' is a good way to reduce terrorism, can someone explain why no-one has proposed bombing the home town of Tim McVeigh? C'mon folks, the result of this war will be more terrorism, not less. The fanatics will feel they've been vindicated, and the downtrodden and oppressed will feel they've got nothing to lose, since the US and Britain have shown that they've got no regard for any of the international institutions they set up to deal with problems like this. The US invasion force is a recruiting seargant for the Islamists. Only those who want a "holy war" of fanatical far-right Christians against fanatical Islamists can welcome the developments of the last 48hours. Is it true what they say about Texas, I wonder...
and the stupidity rolls on....... |

Geez those people piss me off!
I dont think our leaders would of gone to war if they did not have infomation giving them a reason to believe in acting. Is it just me or does everbody point the finger to the US, but the US is not allowed to point the fingure at anyone else?Ex: Other countrys dislike us, but if we dislike them then we are the bad ones. French say "Damn the americans", oh thats ok The US thinks there better than everybody. But, If we say "Damn the ?" then we are look down on even worse. Last edited by Zar; 03-21-2003 at 10:58 PM. |
