Yep, it'll take about a week or so to get over the first
time back.

Try doing some cardio (ie: bike) for about 20 minutes
before lifting to get the blood flowing and loosen up.
Just walking in and starting to lift without warming
up will cause soreness.

Do something when you're done lifting also, so your muscles don't go from intense load to complete rest.

Grin and bear it, that soreness is your just your wool pullin' capabilities increasing.

I go 20 minutes and pop a good sweat before hitting
the iron. You want to get the heart rate up.

stretching before and after makes a big difference.

But that sore feeling is always a nice reminder of the work you've done!

I personally don't mind it so.

I like the soreness as long as I can still move. I also like it after a workout when it is a struggle to raise a water bottle all the way to my mouth for a drink...
