Post Engine cleaning w/ Simple Green

Yeah yeah, I havent cleaned the motor since its been in the car. Everything WAS beadblasted but that has since been ruined.

Question: Whats the best way to clean the motor with simple green? Spray it on while the motor's hot and let it cool then rinse or what? I know to be careful and cover all the electrical stuff up etc.
I dont really have any bad areas...it just needs a good hosing down with something.
Thanks

  • should be water based. Petroleum-based degreasers are not allowed in some areas.
  • may be a strong dilution of an all-purpose cleaner.
  • should not etch paint. Degreasers that are highly alkaline may etch paint. Make sure the material states that it willl not harm painted surfaces.
  • may work better if the engine is warm. They should not be used when an engine is extremely hot.
  • can usually be applied w/a squirt bottle or portable pump sprayer.
  • may require help cleaning by brushing. Brushing breaks the hardened crust on grease, allowing the degreaser to penetrate. Do not use a wire brush, which could scratch finished parts.

On the Automotive Simple Green bottle it does not say to warm engine. It works fine when engine is cold.
