OK, not to sound like a jerk, but there is no such car as a 641/2 2+2. BTW, the easiest way to tell a 641/2 from a '65 is the '65 and ups have an alternator, the earlier run cars have a generator.

The 2+2 refers to the fastback model, which did not enter into production until the '65 model year (actually Januray '65 to be exact). If it's a 641/2 then it's either a coupe or a convertible. If it's a 2+2 then it is a '65 (I don;t think they used the 2 + 2 designation for the '66 year fastbacks, but I'll check to be sure. That being said there are several ways to tell what year and options the car really is:

1. if there is a data plate on the inside drivers door it will tell you everything, year, model, options, etc.
2. If there is no data plate you can still tell by looking at the vin stamping on the driver's side engine compartment, above the front wheelwell. It should start with the number/letter "5R" or "6R".

Post-up the info you find on the data plate and i can tell you more about the car. If you are thinking of buying it, depending on the price it might be a good deal, but take along someone who knows classic mustangs. It is a very different proposition buying one of these as opposed to a late model car. If you don;t know anyone, drop me a PM and maybe I can help.

I've found a 64 1/2 2+2.
What does the "2+2" mean.
New front seats
Rebuilt engine
Primered, needs to be painted.

Now hold, I knew that the 2+2 was a fastback. But I didn't know what else it may have. I gotten different answers from different people. What got me courious is my sister said she found a 64 1/2 2+2. Actually only the 65 was the 2+2. The car I was referencing is completely stripped down to the metal for painting. Everything is supposed to be there in boxes. I am not going to purchase the car due to lack of funds and time to restore it .I have a 1998 GT modified already. Anyways, thanks for the concern.

The 2+2 was just a marketing ploy by Ford that was derived from European sports cars. I guess it just sounds better than 'Fastback'. It had nothing to do with options that a fastback had. The only way to tell that is from the door tag as Tang350 stated.

It was also on all the '66 fastbacks.

Yeah dude, thanks for sending the pics. I assume you got my email back. If they want that much for the car they are high, trust me. Lots of other stangs out there if you just keep looking.
