hmmmmm. Do you guys think we should be eating Kosher or however the OT says what we should and shouldn't eat?
I heard a guy (A Dr.) saying God gave us guidelines on sex and other stuff that helps us survive in this world. (Free sex leads to disease etc.....) we believe that yet we think that all we have to do is pray over our food and ignore God's OT guidelines.

Long time no hear. According to the NT which is a better covenant we are not bound to the OT tradition. I believe we can eat what we like as long as it does not destroy the temple of the Holy Spirit.

The Dr. was it Jim Brower (sp?)?
Anyways...i like how he puts it. In the OT God commanded us to not eat certain things. Jesus died on the cross and the new covenant did take away these thiings as "sins" (Jesus: What is more sinful? What goes in a man's mouth or what comes out of it?) So these things may not be regarded as a sin any longer but they are not part of God's dietary plan for us as he designed us. Pork for example, forbidden in the OT, it may be safer now...but it is still inherently dangerous (I am in the food business and oh man, pork has to be/is the most sensitively controlled product due to the bacterial and viral hazards of improper holding) Basically, you can eat anything but you shouldn't. God wouldn't have told us what to eat and not to eat if it wasn't for our own good. |

funny stuff..goes along with the subtopic of pork...
Homer: Lisa honey, are you saying you're _never_ going to eat any animal again? What about bacon? Lisa: No. Homer: Ham? Lisa: No. Homer: Pork chops? Lisa: Dad! Those all come from the same animal! Homer: Yeah, right Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal. |

We can eat the bad things, but we must prepare to face the conequences of such. ie obesity, cavities, cancer, etc.
