AR15 build party - GTG

Anyone interested?

It will be at my place in Haslet this Friday night (7-16). An early evening works the best say around 6-7.

Directions will be sent via PM and kept off the board please.

You can come even if you just wanna meet and watch how easy it is to put a AR15 lower together. If you wanna drink that is fine, just NO getting drunk and breaking my shit. Remember we will be fondling firearms.

Reply in the thread and I will send you a pm with directions.

Love to show up but plans were already in stone.

If you will give about a months heads up before you guys do the next one, I could get in a stripped lower and a parts kit and I will even bring the pizza

Well we can now put this off until the first week in August. Closer to the 2nd the better.

I MAY have a new job and will not have to return to Dubai quite as fast as I thought.

Sweet, that may give me a chance to order a stripped lower and parts kit by then.

What time are you thinking about having it? I work on that side of town and get out at 3:30pm so I'll probably just hang around depending on the time since I live on the other side of town.

Alright. I am down for that. Let's get a solid date if we can.

We can build JUST the lower and the upper basically just bolts in on top right? Uppers are a bit pricey, so I am doing the build in 2 parts.

How many pizzas and what toppings you want me to bring?

Edit: Wanted to get a Spikes Lower like Matt did, but you have to have it shipped to an FFL even though it is an incomplete lower?

I mean, $100 is a great price, but then you have to add shipping and FFL fees on top of it.

Building the lower is just putting parts together. You can then just buy a complete upper and attach it by the two pins.

Uppers are running about $450 for a good name brand upper.

The stripped lower is the serialized part, so yes, it needs to go through a FFL. A FFL can charge $10-25 per registered reciever.

$100 isn't a great price, $59-69 is.

Sorry, I meant to put a disclaimer on that $10 transfer. I've heard of a couple of guys that charge CHL'ers $10. I don't know who they are though. I think the average price is $20.

I see I see...guess I will try to find one here locally in GP and get whoever is cheapest.

Never purchased any type of firearm related product on the internet, so it's a new ballgame for me. They run your background and stuff like that at the FFL place right?

No, you buy from the dealer and the dealer sends it to the FFL. You go fill out the yellow form (Form 4473) at the FFL when you go pick up the item.

Upper recievers and parts as such are not serialized, so you can have them shipped directly to your home.

I can have an upper shipped directly to me?

One more question.

http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.as...earch=stripped

It states over in the right hand side "FFL Dealer Sales Only"

Does that mean a joe-schmo like me can't buy it? Or is it just re-iterating that it must be sent through an FFL?

Lowers have to be shipped FFL, he was stating that uppers don't have to go through FFL because they don't have a serial number.

I got that part, I was just making sure the wording on the website wasn't indicating that "unless you own an FFL license yourself, you can't buy this lower"

Pretty sure they will sell to you but after looking im not sure either. It is worded weird. I did read that the FFL must have their info on file with AIM first, so you might look into that also.

It is not a Class III part, so you can order as many as you want.

You will have to find an FFL, they have to agree to recieve the reciever(s) and then they will send their FFL info to AIM, or they will send you a copy and you can send it to AIM.

Either way, AIM has to have the FFL info before they will accept a purchase, or it has to be submitted at the time of purchase.

I know the FFL dance, just wasn't sure by the wording if they were trying to restrict to Dealers like a wholesale/not open to the public type of deal.

Find a FFL and order it NOW before they are gone. The last time they had them they were gone in a day.
