Personally, I'd get a 02+ Lightning. Those things are a blast to drive.

It is a Dodge. Do I need to say anything else?

Dodge builds junk.
Dodge=bankrupt

I like the Lightning a lot, but you don't see many SRT-10 running around. Could be a reason for that though.

Hah! I don't discriminate on any make. I had a ram a long time ago and it was a pretty decent truck.

Lightnings seem to be cheaper to mod though

Hell here lately I don't see that many lightning driving around. But yes the lightnings are cheaper to mod plus you can haul and tow more then the srt-10.

Now that I think of it, I really don't either. Haven't even seen many sport cars running around lately around mid cities.

Can always rely on DFWS for a truthful opinion.

Honestly if you are going to buy a Dodge truck and want it to go fast, get the diesel. There are about a million reasons why it is better. Better mileage, better resale, easy power, better durability, blowing smoke all over people you hate, you can haul the fuck out of stuff, hot wet bitches all over you, Cooter's approval, having an engine that Jesus himself designed. The list goes on and on we could be here all day.

This.

The SRT-10 is not a very dependable vehicle, especially if you add any power whatsoever.

It's well done enough I don't feel the need to mod it to enjoy it and I've surprised quite a few Stang/LS1 guys. They don't expect it to run as well as it does.

I can see some of the guys points in regards of normal production Dodge stuff, but the SRT products are great. One of the guys on DR has a SRT-10 truck. It's modded, makes 500rw+ on motor and about to go turbo. It's badass truck in my opinion.

The Dodge or the Lightning, even a turbo diesel as suggested will all run well properly modified. Drive them all and go with what you like. Being brand loyal is just silly.

Why? If you're going to drive something, no matter what it's main purpose, why can't it be fun to drive still? If I'm gonna spend the money, it's not going to be on some plain car that I'm going to hate driving. Yuck!

My buddy has a single cab srt and he loves it. He is a di hard dodge fan, and it is expensive as shit to modify. But a nasty truck none the less. Just my 2 cents.

They are very fast, run hot and leak power steering fluid all the time. Literally single digit fuel economy with 93+ octane also. The tires are ridiculously expensive and your wheels will probably get stolen the first time you park it outside.

The diesels can easily make the same power and will last forever and hold their value a lot longer.

I'd look for a clean 454SS and build a nasty BBC for it.

We had one for a little over a year. Short bed with 6spd and it was a lot of fun. We didn't have any problems with it but also sold it with less than 20K miles so I can't say much on the reliability part. Count on 9 mpg city or highway.

Put a borla cat back on it and it sounds much better --

Buddy at work had one his wife worked for dodge and they have owned just about every srt product. He said the SRT10 was junk. Get a 02 and up lightning or harley. If you want a dodge get the diesel.

DODGE TRUCKS:

Drive-train: built good
Quality build of truck: Junk

I test drove an 09' for 7 days (yeah, the dealership wanted to get rid of em) and it was the 5.7ltr Hemi 390hp and I have to say that Ive never been a fan of the Dodge trucks until the 09's.....but the ride and hp of the truck was very nice, even the interior looks real good too. The trucks are slow off the line, but from a 30mph punch and a 70mph punch, the truck ran REAL GOOD.

I ended up bringing it back and now I have an 09' F150 supercrew. If you EVER get the chance to test drive the 09 F150s, you better be prepared to buy one. The quality and style of the interior is amazing. The Lariats look like a Lexus or a Mercedes with how classy they look on the inside. Anyone who has one will verify it. Im still getting used to the front ends, but Anyways, within 7 days of having the dodge the rear drivers side window made a loud squeeling noise going up/down, my drivers door grinded opening/closing and the volume knob came off. Now Im not saying that all the 09s are like that, maybe I got a lemon, but it changed my opinion on buying a Dodge.

IMO, if you're going to buy a Dodge, you better plan on keeping it until you pay it off because you're not going to make your money back. I dont know about the resale/trade-in value on the SRT-8s or the SRT-10s and Im sure they may be better than a standard 1500 or Diesel but just from talking to salesmen at various dealerships they pretty much all say the same thing, "When guys pull up in their Dodge trucks, we hate to deal with them because they ALWAYS expect more for trade-in than the trucks are worth and they always leave pissed"

If it was a black quad cab, it's probably the that works for History Homemaker in my buddies neighborhood. It's a shame they turned it into a work truck.

I like how anyone is a brand loyalist if they don't like crap that another company puts out. Dodge trucks suck. The Cummins motor is, from what I hear, the best motor available but the truck surrounding it sucks. Viper=cool viper motor=cool dodge truck= suck

You realize that the SRT truck has a Viper motor in it right?

I vote no. IMO, if they void a warranty for towing anything, it's a truck they expect to break. Brien, you could save money on the front end buying a 3/4 ton diesel, it would be more dependably, planned maintenance would be about the same, and it would be worth more when you're ready to sell it. Also, you can pay weirdos like Forrest to mod it for you, and it'll destroy the Viper truck.

I like how some of the ass clowns in this thread just don't seem to get the fact that Dodge trucks are just trucks. They aren't pretend luxury rides. If I want a god damn leather seat, navigation and nut heaters I'll buy a nice car that has all those things. Some people want that in a truck. While dodge makes trucks with all that shit, not many people buy them. I bought my truck to haul shit and blow fucking smoke all over people I don't like, maybe embarass a few imports. That's it.

"from what I hear" in other words you don't know shit about a truck.

My family has been in the excavation buisness since 1954 and we can work the piss out of a truck. My dad has driven Ford trucks since the 50's and I had all Fords in the driveway untill I bought an '01 Dodge 2500. My dad bought one the same year and can't break it. I also had an '05 DRW and it was every bit as nice as the Ford. Never broke anything in 75k on that truck and the '01 has 202,500 on it w/ 10k lbs behind it 24/7. The truck and cummins are going strong (w/ comp box, turbo, etc.) Dodge makes a hard core truck that you can work the piss out of and it won't let you down.

Hay, if you won't a cushy truck that rides smooth for your wife to ride around town in you might try a chevy.
