Too bad for Chevy they had to kill off the Z/28 which would have been more comparable to the GT500.

i like the opening.. translate.. The last time we put a GT VS the comparable camaro..the GT got owned like the bitch it is and all the ford fanboys cried.. so we took the 2nd most powerfull and stupidly over priced blown mustang on the road VS the base factory V8 camaro so it could look like there was a mustang that did not FAIL.

I don't understand the camaro vs. mustang debate. I mean, if you are a ford guy, you'd say "MUSTANG!". If you were a chevy guy, you'd say "CAMARO!"

Shit. To each his own, if you like it enough to buy it - knock yourself out.


The debates are NEVER centered around anything but power and a drag race. last I checked, not "everyone" was concerned with what it does in the quarter, or how much power it has.

If I wanted something fast, nice etc.. it wouldn't be american made.

It all depends on what you want. You throw some drag suspension and a twin turbo setup on the gt 500 and you have an 8 second ride with that same engine that only runs 12's at 115 from the factory. GT500 ftw.

We'll see what a D1 Procharged SS will do on a Ls3 shorly. The blowers only 6200 bux and capable of 1000 rwhp with the injectors and all. It'll make over 600 to the wheels with very minimal amounts of boost. Say 6#s with full exhaust and an abracadabra tune.

I was skimming through this months MT at the store seems the Z/28 project is up and running again or soon will be. If it comes out then we can compare equal models of camaro to mustang.

There's someting about the GT500 that reaches out and grabs me, and nothing about the Camaro that does that. I won't say it's ugly anymore, and I won't say I'd never own one, but I can say the Mustang would have to be out of production first.

The American Muscle rivalry will never die... We need this so the carmaker's come with something better than the other. It's been like this since the beggining of the muscle era.

IMO both cars are great but to expensive and heavy for the enthusiasts that appreciate and mod these cars.

Some car fanatics can't see past their huge EGO's when it comes to brand loyalty...

I like both cars, but for the price I'd rather have a 2LT C6. Itd be about 37-38Kish, which is right in between the Camaro and the Shelby.

I don't have pom pom's for either. That was a logical statement. I am not a Ford or Chevy guy. I am a car guy. I appreciate all the well built high performance cars out there.

I believe they are certain things each company does well and other things they are weak.

I don't know about 6#s. Most of the Vettes I've been looking at with built 402 strokers and a D1 make high-600s/low-700s to the wheels on 12-14 psi on pump gas. So I'd say more like 500rwhp on 6.

the shelby is not a 4.6 .. its a blown 5.4

so blown 5.4 VS NA 6.2
yeah.. once an equivilent blower gets droped on the SS its over for the little garden snake.

there is a local guy with a P1sc making 787 on i think 17#.. on a STOCK ls3 with 6# i would say 550-600 is about right given all the other bolt ons.

no way in hell a D1 will break 1000 rwhp.. you would need an F1 to do that.

I would take a Shelby over a new Camaro and I am an LSx "fan boi". The Shelby looks just as good and has a much better platform to mod it and make huge power. Hell you don't even have to touch the bottom end on them

I am looking for a four wheeler rolling chassis. It needs to have working axles. 2wd or 4wd.
A go kart chassis with a live rear axle could also interest me.

If someone gave me or I simply won one of them I'd just sell it and mod my own car. Overrated and def. over priced. Fug em both for what they are asking these days.

Um no, you are in 2007 time warp dude. Most of the new ones are selling under sticker at about 1000 over invoice. Theres one in GP right now fully loaded asking 50 and change, and another one on ebay at 49 buy now.

You could get one for 47-48 with less options.

I was up a long time last night looking at prices and reading about em. Found a 08 with 2081 miles in Corpus for 35K. If I was working, Id be on a plane right now to go see it. Thats cheap.

The best thing about the '10's is that they have knock sensor's (at least in my opinion). I do like the rearend much better than the prior GT500's. I'm not a big fan of the front fascia though. The interior though is a huge improvement over the 03-04's, but that can be said of all s197's.
