Off-subject but I'm from Longview area too

Actually I'm like 25 min from Longview, but I went to Letourneau before I got sent to Iraq. Anyway, I live like 10min from kilgore and I'm buying an 01 GT right now (I'm in Iraq, my Dad is taking care of it) patriot heads, comp cams, stroked, forged pistons and rods, twin cobra pumps, 52Lb inj, chip, new build engine, old saleen root blower, and I was wondering if there is anywhere somewhat local my dad could get a Kenne Bell big bore 2.6L intstalled a tuned. Also, is there a dealer around? I noticed that your car had been tuned at Dallas Mustang. Is that pretty much where we will have to go to get it done right? The guy that built the engine professionally is in tyler but I don't know whether he would be the guy to take it to or not for the Kenne Bell install. I appreciate it..

I know your message was intended for another, but I figured I would tell you that Kenne Bell can make you a canned tune that will run well and be safe when you get your blower. I would suggest taking it to a respected shop in the DFW area. There are two shops here in Longview that have a dyno and can probably elaborate on Kenne Bell's tune as well, if you went with a canned tune. They might be able to tune it. One shop is All Star muffler on HWY 80, but I can't remember the other one.

i wouldn't waste my time with east texas shops to do that install and tune. The only good one we HAD was just south of Tyler but he moved awhile back. Take it to either HPP or GEARHEADS.

Bryn at Allstar Muffler is an honest person, if he can't do something he will tell you. But if you go there, make sure you ask for him if it deals with a stang.

hey muffrazr, i saw you drive across McCann on the loop headed towards best buy friday. didn't have time to get out of the left turn lane and head your direction though.

Can anyone tell me if anyone ever gets out any more? I was gonna go out Friday night and perform some rolling road block maneuvers with Matt but got the call from him too late and was already back in tyler but i'll probably be back soon enough

I saw you sitting there, so I popped it a little. Not many people come out anymore. I was gonna try to get folks to hang out up here at the shop, but not enough people. There were a few people out the a few weekends ago, but cops treated us like punk kids and ran us off from wingstop. When I mentioned we could all go to East Texas Sonar the cop gave me a shitty look, so I smiled and said private property. I don't think he liked that too much.

All in all, I hear there are a few more cars in the works around here, so maybe there will be people hanging out again. Ihave been contemplating cruising to another city as well, but it's not definite yet.

Did you and Matt get your car fixed?

Cool, electric will be nice. We'll have to set something up soon, cruising here sucks. I did get to rundown a new edge yesterday. He decided he wanted to top out his car so I pulled him in 5th. It was the first time I hit the rev limiter at top speed. My speedometer only goes to 140, so I don't know how fast I ended up going.

Seems like longview would be the most centered place for the any of the surrounding areas to meet, unless you have a good 20-30 people there locally that want to meet.

Some friends and I have been discussing going to some other places to cruise and meet up. We were also talking about going to Red River for a test and tune to see if we can still drive worth a shit at a track. It sucks not having one close by anymore.

How many people do ya'll have up there in Mount pleasant?

Fordboy, what's it like over in Marshall?

Here in Longview the only place left to meet is my shop on Eastman Rd. The cops will run you off from anywhere else, and you can't even pipe someone without the cops getting pissy.

There is always the defunct mall parking lot. it's by an Applebees and people gather there. there isn't a lot of racing going on here so cops aren't too bad of gathering. I have been wanting to go to Red River myself. Of course I was wanting to do that after i get a set of 3.55's as opposed to my 3.08's. My cousin has a Comet he crammed a 460 into and has been wanting to take it there too.

Well, I'm not sure when we will go to Red River, but I'll let you know. Holler at me if you ever plan to cruise this way. I can't garauntee there would a lot of people out as I try to avoid the younger crowd that runs the streets, but maybe we could set something up.

I will be out of my car in a little bit for a little bit. It is going in for paint prep on the 19th. but I can't wait to get it out. Don't know if you saw the other thread... but as part of a deal, the guy I sold a Challenger to is having my car painted by the person who restores his old mopars. When it comes out i am putting mac muflers and stainless tips on it and just put 93 cobra style wheeels on it . I am pretty pumped.

Trust me as soon as I get it back, i'll find ya just to show it off.

That's freaking awesome! I remember the thread, but I guess I missed the paint part. I need to get my body prepped for paint real soon. The spot where someone backed into my car is beginning to really eat at me.

I was told they weren't allowing this anymore, but one of the employees and some of his friends still hang out up there. The last time I drove by there wasn't much to do.

What color Cobra?

Just 93 from the shell at the loop and bill owens. Everyone else is going to 10% ethanol and my car doesn't like it as much. It runs very well with that shell's fuel.

When was this? I drive thru there almost everyday, and still don't know which house is yours.

I wish someone has seen me drive by, i was suppose to be off last friday and saturday to get my car ready for paint, and I had a wreck in my 86 GT on that monday . Made me sick to my stomach. I am suppose to get it back from the body shop later today. But the insurance wouldn't allow for paint; only body work because the hood and front bumper cover were primered. But atleast I wont have to sand the old paint off the new fender and new cowl hood.

I wish it needed race gas.

If that thing didn't make so much power I would do that (Allen's camaro). It was actually his corvette that left some, then I left some, and then some single tire fire happened out there. He did some nice launches on the property with his camaro and the concrete still shows the fat slick tracks.

Oh the good ole' days of Cruising around Longview. I miss those days! Last time I was there North Longview had so much new stuff I had a hard time finding my way around. I still remember when Lowe's and Wal-Mart were the ATV track and racing down Hwy 80 drew too much attention from the police so everyone starting blasting down North 259. Seems like yesterday!
