oil/alklyd paint smell

I found two gallons of Oil/alklyd paint in the Opps bin at home depot and painted my master bed room in it. Well, that was two months ago and it still really smells bad in there. I have to sleep in my spare bedroom. Ive tried incints, lycol, and febrees. Cant get the smell out. Any sugestions?

This may be a really stupid question but have you tried opening the windows to air it out for a couple of hours?

Sherwin Williams and I think Home Depot sells these canisters that look like air fresheners. They do smell pretty good, but they are suppose to absorb the odors out of the air. I don't know how well they work, but it would be worth a try.

Future reference:
Anytime while using alkyds, you can add Oder Zap to the paint. Another way to make it better as far as the smell is to add a few drops of vanilla abstract.

Yeah, I opened the windows and stuck a fan to blow air out but no luck. Maybe ill light a crap load of scented candles or just keep one burning at all time.

Buy a cheap can of coffee and open the can and leave it in the room overnight. You'd be surprised how much coffee absorbs the smell around it.

Other suggestionss would be to strip it off the walls and repaint with a latex based paint or something.

sounds like the paint had spoiled before you bought it. you may need to paint over it with KILZ primer and repaint the color

True, we had a freezer full of beef (bought like a side of beef at the meat market) and had at least 2/3's left when I turned off the wrong breaker and the freezer was without power for like 1 week, middle of summer (deep freezer in garage). When I opened it, I almost puked. Tried EVERYTHING to clean/cover the smell and nothing worked. My Dad suggested the coffee, and by gawd it worked! I was going to throw the freezer away it was so bad.
