Are QEP tile saws any good?
Anyone have one or ever use one? I am looking into getting a tile saw soon and want to make sure I don't buy a pos. The QEP brands I have found are pretty cheap. There is no telling how much I will use it. I may just use it on my house and never again. But then again, I may do some side work and use it alot. I am usually a Dewalt guy, but the QEP's are about a 1/4 of the cost. If anyone has one let me know how reliable it has been and if it cuts good.

just buy a quality one and save yourself the headache. If I was going to buy one, Id stick with something like a Dewalt. Also, get the one with the sliding table, not the POS ones where you slide the tile on the fixed table.
OR you could do the shitty thing and buy a really nice one and do your job and return it to Home Depot/Lowes within 30 days and say you didnt like it  They both have "satisfaction guaranteed" with no questions asked.

the QEP one's are crap. Good for one time use and then its crap. spend the money and buy a good one

In defense of the $50-$60 saws, I have one and have used it 5-6 times. It has cut large wall tiles for my bathrooms and shower stall as well as large porcelain floor tile and tumbled marble backsplash for my renthouse.
Yeah, its cheap and probably not as precise or powerful as a larger sliding bed unit but it gets small jobs done. If I ever take on anything large I will sub it out or will buy a larger saw. BTW, the one I bought is not the ultra cheap all-plastic model. This one is metal with a chrome table and 7" blade. Even I wouldn't buy one of those.

i have the cheapass $100 one from lowes. its done 3 bathrooms, 1 shower, my kitchen, my fireplace and is fixing to do my master bathroom. i just soak the whole damn thing in wd40 after i use it and its never given me a problem. that being said if i was making a living doing tile i would not use this piece of shit.

I have the cheap $100 unit also from HD. I've used it on about 7-10 jobs and it's always worked well. I bought a new blade after about 5-6 uses. I don't see why you should spend the extra money for something you'll use a few times...unless you were going to do this for a living.
