Homeowner's Insurance rates

Just got notice of renewal from Allstate, and my rate went from $876 a year, to $1210 a year. No claims, nothing. Anyone here handle homeowners insurance? I'm moving into a new place in a month, and this was on our current home. I'm not going with Allstate for damn sure.

Hrmm...I'm with USAA. Our rates went down by $400 from last year. I think it was because of being with them/at the house with no claims for 5 years (just a guess...I didn't question them )

well, Allstate is known for lowering their rates so much the have to raise them right back up. They get people in on teaser rates and then next year its back up.

How old is the house? Id recommend ASI Lloyds for a new (under 5 years old) or Homeowners Insurance of America for under 10 years. They have great policies and great prices. Cant really beat ASI's prices on brand new construction

I'm moving into a brand new house in a month. I'll check out ASI. I can understand a small "adjustment", but not a 40% increase in a year.

hard to beat, especially if you are in Denton county. I quited a house a while back that was $250k for $500/yr. That was a HOB policy too, which covers a lot of stuff other companies wont with HOA and HOA+ policies.

We had renters insurance thru allstate and had a claim this past spring when our storage unit was broken into. When we moved into our house this summer, State farm was MUCH cheaper, even w/ the claim, than Allstate. I think we're paying just under 900/yr.......

umm...lol...what are your coverages? Mine is like $8xx a year at the old house (was $12xx for the last few years), the new house is more because the value is much higher.

i have mine through Germania and ours went down too $840yr. And i know ours covered a lil more than what ALLSTATE had, cause we had there car insurance and they quoted us $1000 year...so i dropped there car insurance and went with Germania for Home and Car.

you guys cant compare your prices to another persons...there are WAY to many variables to consider such as: sq footage, how old the house is, county (storms and crime), plumbing type, security, pool, fences...way to much to consider. If you took identical houses and properties in Denton county and compared them to Tarrant county, Tarrant county people will probably be 20-30% higher because of hail.
