What works to get some Sinks unclogged? I have tried Draino and they are still clogged pretty bad...water takes for ever to drain...Any help? TIA

drain snake attached to a drill works wonders.

Try a bottle of bleach. Usually works, and is effortless.

A lot of times, it's in the "P" trap. Unscrew it, and clean it out.

If draino doesn't clear it, I would guess a solid blockage or hair, either way 20 minutes of simple labor and a bucket to catch any water in your "P" trap and you should have years of problem free draining. Don't use lye or bleach, they work, but damage some plumbing, I'm not being a dick, I prefer to fix things right and not have to do it again later...

If you don't want to take the trap off. Get a metal coat hanger and bent the tip and feed it down the drain. You will probably pull out a lot of hair and nasty shit. I would stay away from Draino it can cause more problems in the long run.

What about in the shower where there is no access to get to it. I have a tub that drains slowly and was going to pour some of that liquid HD sells in the plastic bag. The drain itself has a cross piece in it making it hard to access with a hanger since it is so small.

unclog drains

to unclog the tub unscrew the overflow plate on face of tub and make a small hook on the end of wire hanger run it down the overflow drain. on the sink defenitly start on p-trap if nothing make sure nothing is in or on the ventpipe going out the roof if nothing there then you will need to run a snake through cleanout and yes be carful with chemicals especially if you have an older home with castiron and copper drains. good luck

I've found that using these 3 things works pretty well. Try this Zip-it first:
http://www.zipitclean.com/ They are like $2 at HD or Lowes.
Then get one of those small plungers and fill the sink or tub with enough water to cover the plunger (at least a couple inches). Make sure you cover the overflow openings otherwise you won't build any pressure. I plunged ours for probably 2 minutes if not more.
Once you get it open pretty well, pour about a half cup of baking soda in the drain, push as much of it in as you can. Slowly pour a half cup of vinegar into the drain and let it sit for a couple hours.

I prefer not using the nasty chemicals if possible. This worked for us very well with a bath sink that was 100% clogged. Hope it helps.

Pull off any guard you can and if you have a decent shop vac use it to clear the hair and such out of the drain, works like a champ.
