Any rock masons around

As you can see in the pic my house has 3 columns in the front. I was thinking about knocking down the existing brick and having it redone in rock and using the brick to cap the column off at the very top. I have extra brick left over from when the house was built. Does anyone know how much something like this should cost. The sad thing is the house is not even a year old and I'm running out of things to change. I've already replaced all my light fixtures and wood floors are coming soon. I think I have a disease where if I can't constantly change or up grade something I get bored and want to sell it lol. The pic isn't the best and it was taken before the house was finished, but you can see the 3 columns were brick comes up about 3 feet high. I just want to replace the brick with rock nothing else.

I think you should leave it alone. It's a brand new house. You should have bought an older house to do that kind of stuff too. In this case you're spending a lot of money and not adding to the value of the house very much. If you were doing all that to an older house you'd get a better return on your money later.

Just my opinion though.

The best and cheapest way to get this done would be.....go drive through a neighborhood that is new with houses currently being built. find one that has brickers working on it now. Ask one of the guys if they will do it. Most of the time they will point to thier crew boss or the guy that speaks english and you can ask him. I wouldn't pay more than about 300-500 bucks to get it done. tell them you want buff mortar too. Depends on where you live but I have a bricker that would do it for you, but he mainly works in Grand Prarie, Arlington, Mansfield area. Let me know if you have questions.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. Id like the mason to also add some rock in the flower bed. I've seen it done were they do the jaged edges on the top layer and that looks bad ass. As far as tone I know what I want I just don't know the name. I'd prefer a white stone with maybe a hint of yellow in it. No dark colors of stone mixed in though.

This is just as easy as putting down ceramic tile, plus its lightweight enough that you won't need to add any extra support. It is made out of concrete, and is very durable. Since you sound like a do-it-yourselfer, you should be able to knock this out pretty easily

Austin stone is popular for light/white rock

columns like that go for around 150 each. The mailbox would be about 250 and then the brick wall would be around 4.50 per square foot. If you are looking for stone just for the columns I have enough left over that you may purchase cheap. May have enough for the rest as well just not sure on sizing based on there is no soda can to reference.

You would still need to buy brick sand and then white mortar to make it buff mortar.
