Isnt there some ballast thing you can replace if your bulbs are not staying on. I know its not the bulb, since I replaced them.

I really just asked because it is slow up here at work. I called my dad and he said ballasts cost about $15 dollars each. New flourecent fixtures are $20
. Most of the time there is a cover that comes off the middle of the fixture, and you take that off. the ballast is a black or drk. brown box in the fixture. Cant miss it.

yup..the ballast is the expensive part of the light fixture..just replace the whole fixture. Its the black box with the house power going in and wires for the lights coming out.

Buy new fixtures that have the electronic ballasts' in them. They last forever and light up quickly on cold days.

I would replace the fixtures with T8's like mentioned already.
I'm installing several in my attic. They start right up with no delay and provide a lot of light. I have two 4-ft units up there right now and plan to put in at least one more. They are definitely the way to go! More light than the 300 watt floods that were up there and I can leave them on without worrying that the whole place will go up because of the heat lamp effect.
