Any home builders?

Getting ready to build a house and was wondering if there were any builders on the site.

I've seen Vertnut's houses first hand, and they are very VERY nice. I've never seen blackcoupe's homes.

If you're a high roller, Kelley also builds home on here, but I'm not sure what his username is anymore.

Unfortunately I'm having to keep some cost down as I have an existing mortgage on over 20 acres that is going to be tied in. I'm trying to figure out what the going rate of $/sq ft finished/unfinished/underroof is. A lot of the builders out here are trying to compete at rate that I consider to be high for the area.

Thats a tough question without seeing the whole senario. Have you checked the prices of other new houses in the area? finished out it completely depends on how well you do the finish out, there is a BIG difference between carpet and hand scraped hard wood, granite and formica etc. unfinished....meaning just to sheetrock/brick? no flooring/paint/elect or plumb fixtures?

I'm lazy, so it has to be finished out. Everything else, I'm pretty open to

What is a Code expert? Are you some type of inspector or something?

I have a partner that handles all of the financial end. We build in Ellis County on one acre lots. Our range is in the $250k-$350 area.

I can answer questions and will help all I can, but I'm not familiar with codes, etc., out of my area.

I teach inspectors. I work for a hardware manufacturer, but spend a lot of time in the code books. My knowledge is focused on wood framing, but I know quite a bit about all structural stuff (foundation anchorage, all framing, wall bracing, wall coverings, etc.). Now for plumbing and electrical, I know limited stuff, but know how to find it quickly.
