More like pull it back & forth. It takes two people, one on top of the house, one inside

Go to Lowes, look in the fireplace, chimney department. You'll see a big wire brush, slightly larger than the diameter of metal piping that makes up the interior of your chimney. It'll have a wire eyelet on each end.
Go to the hardware isle and buy 25-50 ft of that cheap poly rope. Tie about 15 ft to each end of the chimney brush. Climb up on your roof, take off the protective cover that keeps the critters out. Drop one end of the rope down the chimney, let your high maintenance wife grab and pull the rope until the brush bottoms out in the chimney. Then pull it back up. Do that a few times, then tell your maid, er um your wife to vacuum your fireplace.

All you guys could pitch in and do this for CHEAP.

Annnd thats the lesson of the day.

why use a rope when you can by fiberglass rods that screw together like glow rods and the brush attaches to them, then you tape plastic around the fireplace opening and go up on the roof and sweep it out.
I think I was out a 60 for everything a few yrs back.

Thats too expensive! All of that stuff wasn't at Lowes anyway. My way is cheaper.

Why spend $60 when you can spend $15-$20
