What is Vortex exactly? Never heard of it...

Is it along the lines of Rhino liner, or better quality like Line-X?

Depends on which vortex system they have. Vortex has a low pressure and a high pressure system. Either are better than Rhino....

Had one in my old dodge... I HATED THAT LINER, but that is just my .02. It was thin. I have had Rhino and LineX in the past and preferred them over the Vortex.

That very well could be... mine was less than 1/8th of an inch thick... WAY LESS. at 1/4" I would have never had an issue I bet.
