my best friend bought a bersa thunder 380 at the same time i bought my springfield XD. we went out to shoot and his jammed and/or misfired about 8 or 9 times on his first box of shells. he took is back to academy and ended up getting it replaced with another one, and still had a few misfeeds on that one. i was not at all impressed with the gun and would by no means trust my life with one.

*this was about 3 yrs ago or so, so it may have better results now, but still dont think i would buy one.

Bersa-Llama are shit. Dont waste your money. For a good price check out the Ruger P series. I started with a Ruger P-95. I paid $336.00 Brand New. Excellent gun, no complaints.

Narrow down the field by looking for a 9mm. It's a good first gun to have. Ammo is cheap. You'll practice more. You'll improve fast. You'll get hooked. You'll buy more guns. You'll sell your kidneys for more money.

Ruger P series always fires, handles 147gr just fine, built like a tank and heavy as an anvil, but about as attractive as bull dog slobber. And it has a long trigger. But for the money you can't go wrong with them.

You cant go wrong with a 9mm or .40 cal Beretta, or anything from .380 to .45 in a SIG.

You know, a lot of people say this as a joke, but if you seriously are looking for a DE it is important to know if they are the old frame or new frame (for the large bore). The new 50 will convert to 44, but the older 44 won't swap to a 50. And i think the 357 will not convert to anything else from the factory.
