My wife and I used to shoot Indoor Combat at a range in Richardson, but it's been years ago. Try DFW Gun Range on Mockingbird. They are pretty "cutting-edge" when it comes to different types of shooting.

Cross timbers club. They shoot at the winchester shooting gallery on lancaster in ft. worth. I believe they shoot every thursday just about. They are really nice. they let you shoot free the first time but then you have to join the club like (10 or 20 bucks). YOu have to pay the range fee though.

Yes, the cross timbers guys are really nice. I never made it to a match due to scheduling but they kept me in the loop for nearly a whole season with invites. You may not get a response right away, just be patient and remember they have their own lives and volunteer their time.

So, would I just show up on a Thursday, introduce myself and tell them I'd like to try IDPA shooting?

IDPA, IPSC are 2 orgs that I know of.
Not sure if NRA has speed shooting or not. You can shoot your stock pistol, or shoot Open class race gun. Race guns have huge compensators, custom everything. http://www.dallaspistol.com/DAPS/links.aspx It looks like a great sport, even for spectators.

google Collin County IDPA. go to there site.
They run IDPA matches just about every weekend and they welcome newcomers. Matter of fact, I'm about to leave for my first match this morning. It's at Adrenalin Proving Grounds in Greenville, TX. Last edited by flied_lice; 04-14-2007 at 07:29 AM. Reason: spelling |

I emailed the Cross Timbers guys from their website. They replied right away and were very helpful. I went shot with them last Thursday. That was fun.

I did my first match today with the Collin County IDPA. It was fuggin awesome. Very friendly and welcoming to newbs. There was only 5 people because of the cold and yesterdays rain. Probly shot close to 200 rounds. Highly recommended.
