Range ammo prices

Where do you buy your ammo for plinking at the range? Academy Sports still has the prices to beat. Walmart's cheapest is the Winchester White Box but they cost more than CCI Blazer.

CCI Blazer Aluminum 9mm 115 gr: $5.97/box of 50
CCI Blazer Aluminum 45ACP 230 gr: $10.97/box of 50

Natchezz Shooters Supplies dot com has the CCI Blazer Aluminum 45ACP for $8.99. www.natchezss.com If you get 5 or more boxes, the shipping comes out cheaper than the tax you'd pay at Academy Sports.

Gun ranges add $3-4 to the prices above.

I always go to Walmart. A lot of times they are out of the 100 boxes though. If they are totally out of what I like I just buy it at the range.

Personally, I stay away from the Blazer brand because I have heard too many stories of their cases splitting and jamming up pistols.

I usually buy all my .44 mag and .45 ammo from Academy, Bass Pro or Cabella's. You can also find some deals at the local gun shows as well. I have been informed by reputable others that the cheaper or reloaded ammo releases more residue (makes a bigger mess) that you will have to clean later.

I only use the Winchester 9mm stuff from Walmart. It's halfway accurate, cheap, and reliable.

Ask about the "large" boxes. I think they were $9.88/100.

I've put 4-5000 rounds through my 92fs, and CCI aluminum is the only ammo it has not liked! It jammed 2-3 times per 15rd clip and I had 2-3 FTFs per box. It was terrible! I went and bought a box of range ammo that day to sanity check the gun, and it liked that just fine!

I have about 300 rounds left if anyone in Austin wants it. CHEAP!

Blazer ammo

It is the aluminum casing that makes your gun jam with blazer ammo. I used to use it but kept on having fte's and jams. I switched to brass and never had another problem. Try blazer brass if you can find it.

Ever since Walmart raised their 9mm WWW from $4.63 to $7-something, I've been shooting CCI Blazer Aluminum in 3 guns with no problems. We're talking probably 2,000 rounds.

Ya, I'm not saying it's bad, just my 92fs doesn't like it. I can see the jams probably being case-related, it was the FTFs that really struck me as odd.
