Exclamation Whats your favorite range ammo?

I normally buy nothing but Winchester 165gr FMJ, or if they are out, I get Remington. Ive had to shoot Wolf and Blazer before because thats all they had, and hated it. Those 2 made my gun dirty as hell, had way more flash, and jammed my 9mm a couple of times.

How much does 7.62 cost and whats the amount you get? I need to know for when I get an SKS. And Im assuming you cant shoot the FMJ either at a range, so... Fill me in.

7.62x39 for the AK/SKS (You have to be more specific, there's 7.62x39, x54R, x51 (.308) etc.) The going rate for 7.62x39 is $150/1000 rds if you buy online. (closer to $200 at gun shows )

It's been real hard to find for the last year or so. I got my last case from www.dansammo.com I believe. You can find (down here in Austin anyway) off-brands at places like Academy for close to that price ($3/20) but ti's real hit-or-miss. and most of the time they are sold-out.

I've heard some ranges don't allow FMJ, so I buy the soft stuff just in case, but I've never had anyone say anything when I did send a box downrange.

Work buys mine so I just stick with Remington or Winchester for my 1911 and glock

I did come accross some great .223 ammo. Its called American Eagle. I was very surprised at the grouping I got @ 200-300

Ive never had a problem with the stuff. Probably have close to 8,000 rounds through my Mini -14 and have had only a hand full of miss fires. I have never heard anything bad about the stuff.

It's not to bad now that it doesn't come lacquered. Before I hated the shit, now it's alright.

I haven't shot it for a couple of years because of the crappy quality. I guess they had enough people complain about it.
I might give it another try....

I was never a big fan of CCI or Wolf. But I guess things change Mox

I love the cheapy CCI Blazers. $5.69/50 at Academy for 9mm and they go bang every time. I've always found them to shoot cleaner then WWB too.
