Maytag Sucks!!!
I bought this POS shit when I moved into my new house, it worked great for the first year and then I have had nothing but trouble with this thing since. It was'nt cheap either it was over $2000.00 5 years ago. So somebody needs to wake up that cocksucker service guy that has nothing to do and come over and fix my GODDAMN refriegerator! I also just got off the phone with those bitches and they say the factor warranty for the sealed parts expired this past November
BASTARDS! I only bought MAYTAG because of the reputation, well guess what their reputation means shit too me now!...'H'

I have never owned ANYTHING Maytag (never will again either) but I figured it was top of the line that it would be worth the $$$, but NOOOOOO! I had a Whirlpool frige in my last house and that thing worked for over 10years, the Frigidair I had before that went over 10 yrs. this POS is nothing but problems. I called my home warranty and they are on the way to fix it, so at least they have my back, unlike MAYTAG

David's Appliance came out twice in the last three weeks to work on our Maytag washer. This isn't a cheap washer either (neptune series). They told me that Maytag is junk now along with Amana, GE, Admiral, etc. and the only good appliances are whirlpool.
BTW David's Appliance is coming back out on Wednesday to replace just about everything in the washer this time. I love my home warranty (AHS home warranty). Most people say that home warranties are crap and they get your money. I have found that is not the case. The list of replaced items in the last two years : Hot water heater Garage door opener Kitchen disposal Repaired my Maytag refrig. Repaired my Maytag washer and dryer Replace my A/C system in my house Replace dishwasher |

My parents did the same. They've always owned maytags and had good service. They bought a maytag new fridge & washer/dryer a few years and it was all cheap junk. Washer flooded the house and the fridge was literally falling apart. I look for maytag to go away in the next few years.
My circa 1989 GE fridge just keeps trucking along

The tech was saying the lower to mid levels now are not all made my whirlpool to keep the cost competitive with the lower end machines from other companies. This is all within the last year for Kenmoore.

I bought two high end (expensive mofos) GE Artica 'frigerators about three years ago... the ice maker in the one over at my Mom's house has been worked on time after time after time. still doesn't work...
For ice, I have to walk out the garage and get the icemaker tray outta' the old trusty Kenmore and dump it into the tray in the new high tech GE fridge... what a Pain in the ass... but I'm tired of freakin' service men that have not a clue when they get here..."ughhhh...let's replace this valve and try it again.... " well bitch, you replaced that same valve last time and it still doesn't work, I don't think it's gonna make any difference this time either.Good luck with that Maytag. mardyn |

Maytag washer crapped out in 1 1/2 years, luckily the laundry area is off the garage instead of in the house.
Skybox (little vending machine) crapped in 6 months...took almost 2 months to get the parts in...replaced parts, still didn't work...spent right at 4 more months sitting at the local Maytag facility waiting on more parts. Finally got it back, bitched until they added another 6 months to warranty, then sold it on ebay. (it was an American Idol giveaway) Never buying Maytag again.

We bought a Maytag brand new from the store and had problems within the first month. When we called Maytag like the washer said they said they would be out in 2 weeks to look at it. They wrote up what was wrong with it and said since it hasn't been very long since we bought it go up and ask them for your money back and get something else don't get a MAYTAG!! Yep.. The actual Maytag service guy said they SUCK!!
Oh shit.. just realized this was you're Fridge.. HELL NO... that's NOT ACCEPTABLE!! |

Okay.....first off Whirlpool... USED to make all Kenmore. Now it is whoever can make a certain appliance (certain features) the cheapest, that is who makes that model. For instance you could look at Kenmore refrig's and see a GE, Frigidiare, Maytag, and a Whirlpool built machine, yet they will all have the Kenmore name on it.
Maytag + 10 years ago = GOOD Maytag + now = Amana built/Maytag name = MID LINE QUALITY Maytag Washers and Dryers (top load), all but one model is really AMANA designed with Maytag branding. The "real" Maytag design is only on the the 1 pair called Dependable Care Series. And that is what it is DEPENDABLE. The Amana designed machines....WELL.....they lack quality. Now if that was not confusing enough......MAYTAG was bought out by Whirlpool a few months ago.

So now Whirlpool owns.....Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Roper, Estate, Maytag, Amana, Jenn-Air, and Admiral brand names. As far as which brand is "best". If I have to say one "top brand", I would say overall, Whirlpool is hard to beat. I am not saying that Whirlpool is the very best in every category. But as far as dependable products across the board Whirlpool would be very hard to beat. Last edited by 1carcrazyguy; 06-05-2006 at 07:20 PM. |

My Grandma had the same Maytag washer for years. (as far back as I can remember and I'm 32) She decided to get new ones around the same time me and my wife were getting started, so she gave the washer and dryer to us. The dryer is a newer Kennmore beacuse the matching Maytag took a dump. The washer has gotta be at least 25 years old, I put it's second belt on it a couple of weeks ago. My Grandpa changed it the first time around 10 years ago, no problems what so ever besides that.
