does Rush suck?

They seem to be a love 'em or hate 'em kind of band. I had a friend who loved them to death, so much so that he convinced me to go see them in concert a decade ago. I still hate them. A lot.

I don't hate them, but I have a limited weekly allowance, which can easily be exceeded by an overzealous Classic Rock DJ on a Rush Hour Binge.

Favorite band of all time.

There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas

The trouble with the maples
And they're quite convinced they're right
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade

There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the maples scream "Oppression!"
And the oaks just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights
"The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light!"
Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw

rush is my favorite band.
i have 2112 license plates.
i can't wait till progressive stuff makes a comeback. i'm sure there is a lot of musical talent wasting away out there because you can make alot of money with 3 chords and a 4/4 time sig.

Rush was red hot back in the day just like a lot of other bands; their sound was new and different at the time. They were very popular with the stoners.

Like someone else said I have my rush days.

Well, then, you have me convinced.

The live show proved to me that there is a ton of musical talent in that band, but the lead singer needs his nuts to drop. That's enough to ruin the music for me.

i love rush.... seen them twice in concert.

i've always been a fan of the power trio bands like Cream, ZZTop, Triumph and Rush.

Triumph was always a "must see" when they came to town..... damn, i miss that band

Rush rocks....but I like Tool too. What to vote?

...I strip away the old debris
That hides a shining car
A brilliant red Barchetta
From a better vanished time
I fire up the willing engine
Responding with a roar
Tires spitting gravel
I commit my weekly crime

Wind
In my hair
Shifting and drifting
Mechanical music
Adrenaline surge...

Well-weathered leather
Hot metal and oil
The scented country air
Sunlight on chrome
The blur of the landscape
Every nerve aware

Suddenly ahead of me
Across the mountainside
A gleaming alloy air car
Shoots towards me, two lanes wide
I spin around with shrieking tires
To run the deadly race
Go screaming through the valley
As another joins the chase

Drive like the wind
Straining the limits of machine and man
Laughing out loud with fear and hope
I've got a desperate plan
At the one-lane bridge
I leave the giants stranded at the riverside
Race back to the farm
To dream with my uncle at the fireside

Rush is one of the greatest progressive rock trios of all time. If you don't like them, listen to Moving Pictures. If something on that album doesn't get you going, your mental.

I prefer the concept albums like Caress of Steel, 2112, and Hemispheres over alot of the other stuff. Permanent Waves is damn good, Farewell to Kings was good....

Bytor and the Snowdog live is pretty damn cool !

They started loosing me after Signals...

I totally agree with you. Popular music today sucks ass. No talent bull shit. 90% of songs on the radio today I can play by ear in less than 10 mins.

There are plenty of great prog rock bands out there today. You just have to dig deep to find them. Bands I'm diggin right now are Opeth, Dream Theater, Andromeda.......
