Speedworks Z06 Untuned Dyno #'s
Speedworks dynoed Jeff Nations Pro-charged Z06 late Saturday. With no tuning and only running it up to 5400 the car made 578/546 with 11#'s of boost.
Car will be tunned shortly.

They were supposed to be doing the final tuning yesterday, did they get around to it? Jeff said they were hoping for 650 to the wheels....but he also didn't know what the CR was, he had to go back and ask...

If it's a built motor, as long as the guy tuning knows what he is doing, it should last.
Which Procharger, D1? AMS did a D1 car that put 720rwhp, so he has some power left in it. Scott |

It's not a built motor. It will go boom bitch shortly....tuned or untuned, doesn't matter.

The saving grace for that motor is that it will probably only see above 5000 RPM about 3 times off of a dyno...for this reason, I think it won't go BOOM...

No BS Flag here. It wasn't an Ls1....an Lt1. Also, it made ~750rwhp through full exhaust, and with a small emmisons legal cam. Did I mention it was through a unlocked convertor? As for the z06 car....sounds like a nice combo. I don't think it will last at the power, but Im sure everyone involved knows that already. Chris |

After rereading my post I realized that I did not type what I was trying to say. What i meant to say was that if the car is not abused it will last forever. Jeff will drive this car hard because that is the reason he had it built. He wanted to go fast so Speedworks made it fast. In this game things can always go wrong so when you try new setups, such as this one, you have to be prepared for things to fail. He knows the rules and is prepared to step up to the plate if failure should occur.

As far as the D-1 car making 720rwhp I was there and taped it, actually I recall 708rwhp. The car had a 305 cam in it, specs: 220/230 .510/.510 114ls. Not exactly a race car cam! No clue why he went with this cam, guess he wanted to pass emissions. A friend of mine built the engine and also wondered why he went with such a small cam. Here is the video for you doubters! Thats Job Spetter Jr on the left btw![]() http://raceonly.com/videos/Joel_708RWHP.avi |

There are only a few problems to work out on jeffs car. At first, under boost the intake inlet was inflating like a ballon. A hard plastic one was supplied with the kit but they chose not to installl it because of the looks. So they had to put that on. The car did make 578. It was driven around a little on the street and it was deemed to be a bad bitch. The first pull at Ed wrights ended with a monstrous cloud of smoke from the belt. A new belt was found at a local shop but the crank pulley and begun to loosen itself. Ed said that typically stock setups can only handle 6-7psi. So, now they need to key the crank and tell ATI that they need to make a new tensioner setup like Vortec's to replace the stock spring type tensioner.
no boom bitch. everyone knows who ed wright is, or should, and that he has been tuning those turds, i mean GM products for a long time. |

I thought he was only using like 42lb injectors? How is he not leaning out? I've got 555cc (~55 lb) injectors on my Z now, and when it gets put back together it'll have 850cc (~85 lb) injectors.
In the import world (for the most part) you can get about 1 rwhp out of each CC (so 555cc injectors are good for approximately 555rwhp without leaning out). I guess having the bigger LS1 allows you to use smaller injectors and get the same amount of power. Anyone care to help me understand? Regardless, sounds like a bad ride! I can only imagine that much power in a car that light! I'll be on the lookout when my Z gets back together. ![]() Thanks,

Thus raising the actual number of the injector. On an LS1 a 42lb injector should actually run in the midst of ~51lbs. A 51lb injector on an ls1 should be good for between: ~653 Crank HP @ 80% duty cycle of injector and ~816 Crank HP @ 100% duty cycle of injector Of coarse there are other factors involved, but this seems to be the standard amongst the ls1 community. |
